Alkademy Zoom App Documentation
How to add, use, and remove the Alkademy Zoom app.
Zoom App Guide
This page is the official documentation for the Alkademy Zoom app. It explains how Zoom account owners and admins can add the app, how Alkademy uses Zoom for live learning, and how to remove the app when it is no longer needed.

Overview
Alkademy is a live learning platform for courses, workshops, live classes, and tutor sessions. The Alkademy Zoom app connects your Zoom account to Alkademy so the platform can create and manage Zoom meetings used for those live sessions.
- Automatically create Zoom meetings for scheduled Alkademy live sessions
- Let instructors start sessions and learners join from Alkademy
- Support in-browser join (when Meeting SDK is enabled) or open the Zoom client via join URL
Adding the App
Use these steps to add Alkademy from the Zoom App Marketplace:
- Sign in to Zoom with an account that can install apps for your organization.
- Open the Zoom App Marketplace (https://marketplace.zoom.us/) and search for “Alkademy”.
- Open the Alkademy app listing and review the requested permissions.
- Click Add (or Visit Site to Add, if shown), then approve the authorization prompt.
- Complete any Alkademy sign-in or account-linking steps shown after authorization.
- Confirm installation under Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Added Apps.
After the app is added, an Alkademy admin should finish Zoom credentials setup in Alkademy under System Settings → Zoom Settings (Server-to-Server OAuth account ID, client ID/secret, and optional Meeting SDK keys).
Using the App
Once installed and configured, Alkademy uses Zoom behind the scenes. Most learners and instructors interact with sessions from Alkademy pages rather than from the Zoom Marketplace listing.
For learners
- Sign in to your Alkademy account.
- Open your enrolled live class, workshop, or tutor booking from your dashboard or event page.
- When the session join window opens, click Join / Start on Alkademy.
- Alkademy launches the Zoom Meeting SDK in the browser when enabled, or opens the Zoom join URL.
For instructors and hosts
- Create or open the live class, workshop, or tutoring session in Alkademy.
- Alkademy provisions (or updates) the linked Zoom meeting using your connected Zoom account.
- At session time, start the meeting from the Alkademy session controls.
- Share any Alkademy event link with attendees; they join through Alkademy when access is granted.
Common use cases
- Live classes scheduled on Alkademy Events
- Workshops / bootcamp sessions with timed join windows
- 1:1 or small-group tutor bookings
- Consultation or coaching sessions that require a Zoom room
Removing the App
To remove Alkademy from your Zoom account:
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- In the top-right corner, click Manage.
- On the left side, open Added Apps.
- Find Alkademy and open it.
- Click Remove.
- Optionally choose a removal reason, then confirm Remove.
Implications of removal
- Alkademy will no longer be authorized to create or manage Zoom meetings for your account.
- New live classes, workshops, and tutor sessions that rely on Zoom provisioning may fail until the app is re-added and credentials are restored.
- Existing Zoom meeting links created before removal may still open in Zoom, but Alkademy may not be able to update or regenerate them.
How user data is handled after removal
- Alkademy stops using Zoom OAuth/Meeting credentials associated with the removed authorization.
- Alkademy account data (profiles, enrollments, purchases) remains in Alkademy unless you request deletion under our privacy process.
- Zoom meeting metadata previously stored for session access (for example meeting IDs or join URLs) may be retained only as needed for learning records, support, or legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized according to our Privacy Policy.
- To request Alkademy account or data deletion, visit Account deletion or email support@alkademy.com.
Troubleshooting
Cannot add the app
- Confirm you are signed into Zoom with an admin or owner role that can install Marketplace apps.
- Try another browser or disable extensions that block OAuth pop-ups.
- Ask your Zoom account owner to approve Marketplace apps for your organization.
Session has no Zoom meeting / Join fails
- Verify the Alkademy Zoom app is still listed under Zoom → Manage → Added Apps.
- Ask an Alkademy admin to re-check System Settings → Zoom Settings and save credentials.
- Confirm the session join window is open (some workshops only allow join near start time).
- Allow camera/microphone permissions if joining in-browser via Meeting SDK.
Host cannot start the meeting
- Ensure the instructor account is the session host in Alkademy.
- Re-open the session page and try Start again after refreshing.
- If the Zoom client opens instead of the browser SDK, that is expected when Meeting SDK is disabled.
